Central and Eastern Europe After Communism.
History and Geopolitics.
This is a course about geopolitics of Central and Eastern Europe after collapse of communism and USSR. The aim of this course is to interest international students in modern history of Central Europe, especially Poland and Russia.
This course will provide the following information:
- The „Iron Curtain” after WW II and its consequences (Cold War).
- Collapse of USSR (brief history).
- Geopolitics of postosoviet Russia.
- Brief Modern History of Poland, and other postcommunist countries of Europe.
- NATO and European Union enlargement facts.
- Transatlantic relations ; E.U. – Russia relations. U.S. - Russia relations, U.S. – E.U. relations.
- Eastern Partnership of the European Union.
The course will be based on lectures, discussion with students, and presentation of video and audio materials (documentary).
